Forest School Fun
Five of our Year Six children are currently working really hard with Miss McFarlane learning forest school skills in a local woodland. The children have been den building, shelter building and making their own campfires to cook food. Everybody is having a great time!
The leavers ball will be held on Monday 14th of July and will be a fantastic night, where the children and staff can get dressed up and celebrate their time at New Park!
Last week the children baked and sold their own products. The bake sale was a huge success and nearly all groups made a profit. The children were excellent sellers and all cakes were sold by the end of the afternoon. The children have showed excellent bussiness and team working skills, well done! See below for pictures of them making their products!

We have been taking part in an Enterprise project and on Thursday, 3rd July we are holding a bake sale. The bake sale will include a range of different desserts that we have created.
All monies raised from this sale we will be donating to Cancer Research.
We have been very busy practising for our Leavers Assembly, which all parents are invited to on Tuesday 22nd July.

Our Year 6 team consists of three teachers, Miss Ardrey, Mr Griffiths and Mr Willis. We have three HLTA's, Mrs Chittenden, Miss Walsh and Miss Coyne and our TA Mrs Forrester.
Year 6 is the time that we are preparing our children for their transitions to their chosen secondary schools. We have opportunities to visit local secondary schools and we encourage children to attend open days. This year, you will have to apply for your child's secondary school place online. You will be able to do this from the end of September and the closing date is 31st October. If you have any problems accessing the internet, please call into school and let us know or please click on the site below.
Secondary School Admissions Information
During the mornings we have Literacy and Numeracy lessons and in the afternoons we study Science, History, Geography, French, PSHE, PE, ICT, Art and Design and RE. Our children follow the National Curriculum for all subjects.
During Autumn term we go swimming once a week and have the opportunity to take part in football coaching with the coaches from LFC.
During Spring Term afternoons, our children, in small groups, will have extra half hour interventions of Literacy and Numeracy.
Our Year 6 children hold many positions of responsibility in school such as, Head Boy and Head Girl, Sports Captains, School Council Representatives, Prefects, Playground Pals and School and Classroom Monitors.
Homework/Extra Curricular Opportunities
We expect children to read and practise their times tables every night. Reading diaries should be signed and returned to school every day.
|SUBJECT||SENT HOME||DUE IN|
We like to encourage as many children as possible to attend our Tuesday 3.30-4.30 homework/revision club. This is a great opportunity for the year 6 children to complete their homework while there are staff members available to help them.
There are also opportunities for kickboxing, football and dance.
Trips and Rewards
Year 6 have many trips to look forward to. Coming up in March is the residential at Colomendy that we can't wait for!
After SATs we can relax and be rewarded with a trip to the Tennis Tournament at Calderstones Park as well as a fab day out at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. We will have the opportunity to have top up swimming lesson in Summer Term as well!
Year 6 is a very challenging year and all children work considerably hard for their SATs tests. We are very proud of them.
