It is very important in year 3 that children read every day at home, and their books are brought back to school each morning. Spellings are given out once a week and children have a week to learn these words for a test the following week. Spellings that are given follow the government guidelines for the age group, and children should be able to spell these words by the end of the year. Along with spellings, times tables should also be practised at home as often as possible. Children will be tested on times tables weekly. This is important as children need these skills for their everyday maths lessons.
