Hello and welcome to Reception!
This is the place where you will find any up to date news on Reception. For more news of what we are up to please follow us on twitter @MissPercivalNP and @MrsbrooksP
We have a great team in our reception base including our class teachers Miss Percival and Mrs Brooks. We have two amazing teaching assistants, Mrs Roberts and Miss Roberts. We also have three 1:1 support staff, including: Mrs Sigee, Mrs Hutton and Mrs Griffith. We are really lucky to have our EAL support staff member Mrs Agata.
In Reception we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. This includes three prime areas: (PSED) personal, social and emotional development, (PD) physical development and (CL) communication and language. It also has four specific areas including: (M) maths, (L) literacy, (UTW) understanding the world and (EAD) expressive arts and design. All children have access to these areas through planned lessons, activities and continuous provision.
In Reception we aim to listen to each child read four times a week. We ask if you can read at home with your child to help encourage their love of reading and please return their reading book and reading record book to school everyday.
In Reception we encourage all children to become more independent. Can you assist your child at home with putting their coats on, fastening their zips/ buttons and tying their laces.
PE is on a Thursday morning in reception, at the moment the children are just removing their shoes and socks for PE so will therefore not need a PE kit in school. The children will not need PE kits until after Christmas.
