Welcome to the Nursery 1 class page!
Settling into nursery has been lots of fun. We have been exploring our classroom and toys, learning some new songs and listening to amazing stories. Here is what we have been up to:
Knowsley Safari Park
WWhat a great day we had at Knowsley Safari Park! We had beautiful weather which meant the animals were out enjoying it too. We started on the bus journey around the animal enclosures and seen Lions, Wolves, Monkeys, Rhinos and Deer to name but a few! Then we were entertained by Biffo, Reggie and Roger during the fabulous Sealion Show, followed by a walk through the bat house and a walk around the park. We finished with eating yummy ice-lollies. The children were fantastic and had a lovely day.
A Squash and a Squeeze/ Poppy Day
What a fun week we have had! We looked at a book called 'A Squash and a Squeeze' about an old lady who doesn't like her small house, but a wise old man helps her to love it! You can watch a song version of the story here:

We enjoyed acting out the story using small world characters and a little pretend house.
Poppy Day
We felt very special taking part in the whole school project for Remembrance Day on Tuesday. We made our very own poppies to go on a dedicated display around our school memorial.
Aren't they beautiful? Well done Nursery 1! And a HUGE well done to the morning children who took part in the 1 minute silence as a mark of respect to the soldiers of World War 1. They were amazing, Miss Marshall and Mrs McShane were extremely proud. :)
Children in Need
What an amazing day! We loved wearing our Pyjama's to school and taking part in some Pudsey activities. Well done to everyone who took part (especially those who came in the morning in the torrential rain!)
PYJAMA SELFIE!!!
Brown Bear Brown Bear and Diwali
We have enjoyed our animal focus last week so we have been reading 'Brown Bear Brown Bear' and looking at colours too! We went on a hunt for the animals from our story and recorded what we found.
As it was Diwali on Thursday, we decided to learn a little bit about the festival and take part in some traditional activities. You can find out more about Diwali at http://resources.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/homework/religion/diwali.htm
Dear Zoo
We have been very interested in pet dogs recently, so we decided to have a book focus of Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell, where a request for a pet is sent to the zoo and they send many wonderful (and inappropriate) animals. So imagine our surprise when the zoo had sent us lots of packages to open while we read our story!
Incy Wincy Spider
This week we have been interested in Spiders! We spotted lots of spiders in our outdoor area and became fascinated by them. So our theme this week was Incy Wincy Spider. Visit http://www.topmarks.co.uk/Interactive.aspx?cat=139 for an animated Incy Wincy Spider song that we have loved (plus lots of other amazing songs and rhymes to enjoy!) Look at what we got up to.
We have been looking at Autumn this week! Although the weather has been playing tricks and is still pretending to be summer (which we won't complain about) we know that now it's Autumn and soon the leaves will change colour and fall from the trees. We have been doing lots of creative activities to explore the colours of Autumn.
We have a strong interest in fire fighters in our class! We love everything about fire fighters and so we have been doing activities related to this, such as playing with our toy fire station, dressing up as fire fighters and we even used our hose outside to play a fire fighter number game. Being a fire fighter is hard work.
Teddy Bears!
We have had a strong interest in teddy bears recently and so have been learning a lot about bears. We have enjoyed a counting story 'Ted Fell Out Of Bed' which has helped us to explore numbers up to 10. Alongside this we have been learning the song '10 in a bed' and have made an amazing display to show our work! Next we will be moving on to learning about real bears.
