During the Autumn term we covered two different topics: ourselves and our families and festivals and celebrations.
Autumn Term 1 - Ourselves and our Families:
This half term was super important as it was our first term in Reception. We made new friends and met our new teachers.
We learnt about each other and talked about our favourite things and what we like to do.
We loved sharing a selection of Jill Murphy stories especially Five Minutes Peace.
Autumn Term 2 - Festivals and Celebrations:
We came back to school after a lovely half term holiday ready to learn and play!
We began this topic by looking at Bonfire Night and the story of Guy Fawkes. We made chocolate apples and painted pictures of fireworks. We even held our very own campfire (which you can read all about on our campfire blog) during one of our stay and play sessions with parents.
The we looked and the Hindu festival of Divali. We made our own diva lamps and made rangoli patterns. We enjoyed finding out about what happens during Divali all over the world.
We also celebrated Teddy's birthday. We enjoyed making a cake for Teddy and writing invitations to his birthday party.
Before we knew it Christmas had crept up on us and it was time to start rehearsals for our First Nativity. Why don't you take a look at our special Nativity blog?\
